Position Summary & Responsibilities

Position Summary:

The Broadband Public Affairs Manager coordinates outreach and engagement with State, Local, Tribal, and nonprofit stakeholders to support broadband development initiatives. Plans and facilitates in-person and virtual working sessions and informational briefings to gather stakeholder input. Develops clear, effective communications in collaboration with the Department of Commerce marketing team, including fact sheets, newsletters, whitepapers, graphics, and website content. Serves as a point of contact for broadband-related inquiries and coordinates responses. Supports and manages logistics for KOBD events, meetings, and activities across multiple broadband programs and initiatives.

Job Responsibilities may include but are not limited to the following:

  • Coordinate outreach efforts to stakeholder groups including State, Local, Tribal, and nonprofit entities.
  • Develop and facilitate working sessions and/or information briefings in person and via webinar aimed at capturing stakeholder input.
  • Draft various forms of communication in partnership with the Department of Commerce marketing team, including fact sheets, newsletters, whitepapers, graphics, and website content.
  • Coordinate response to office broadband inquiries.
  • Coordinate and support KOBD events and program related meetings and logistics related to multiple broadband development programs and initiatives.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • 2+ years of professional experience leading communications and stakeholder outreach efforts.
  • Ability to work with internal and external teams to obtain an in-depth understanding of communication requirements.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Produce high-quality communication materials that meets applicable standards and is appropriate for its intended audience.
  • Familiarity with communications and knowledge management tools.
  • Excellent writing skills.
